Steve Albini, The Act of Creating, Human Migration, etc.
In which I send out a late Mother's Day letter to maybe start your work week out right.
💔 Rest in peace, Steve Albini. “As an impressionable teenager and into my early 20s, he taught me how and why to treat people ethically and how to give absolutely zero fucks about the opinion of people who don't.”
📖 Finished Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act: A Way of Being. “Beware of the assumption that the way you work is the best way simply because it’s the way you’ve done it before.”
🌎 Watch this animation of how humans have migrated across the globe the last 60,000 years. “But it’s perhaps more notable that out of Africa came something quite old indeed: humankind itself, which over the past 60,000 years has been spreading ever farther across the world. You can see how it happened in the Insider Science video above, which animates those 60 millennia of global migration in less than two and a half minutes.”

💿 Rolling Stone released its Top 500 Albums of All-Time list in 2003, then updated in 2012, then 2020. The 2012 list was slightly different than the first, but the list in 2020 was radically different.

📺 Surprising news: Max and Hulu/Disney+ are apparently going to be offering a bundle in the near future.
🍄 What is the least amount of points you can acquire in Super Mario Bros? Never did this as a kid but I would see how many points I could get in Tetris without actually getting a line.
😆 David Lee Roth as microwave popcorn, Kurt Cobain as a coffee grinder, Henry Rollins as a… well, for those familiar with a certain song, I won’t spoil the joke.
❤️ Happy Mother’s Day, mom. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms.
Remember to keep the Hoping Machine running.
